Social Media Carousel | Design Rationale

This carousel is designed to show how screen time can gradually take over everyday life, while reminding people that small, intentional choices can help restore a healthier balance. The story begins with the child surrounded by digital notifications, creating a visual sense of distraction and overload. As the carousel progresses, the focus shifts away from screens and toward real-life experiences: building, spending time outdoors, connecting with family and friends, resting before bed, and finally enjoying physical activity. The same Emirati child appears throughout the carousel to create continuity and make the message feel personal and relatable. His journey becomes a visual representation of the audience’s own relationship with technology. Including his sister, mother, family, and friends also expands the message from an individual habit into a shared family and community experience. Visually, the design combines warm, realistic photography with a strong cyan accent inspired by the Cyber Security Council’s identity. The turquoise elements represent the digital world, while the warm lighting, natural environments, family interactions, and physical activities represent real life. This contrast helps communicate that the campaign is not against technology; it encourages people to use it mindfully and make space for meaningful offline moments. Bold typography, high contrast, consistent logo placement, and repeated framing elements create a unified visual system across all six frames. The short, direct headlines make each message easy to understand, while the supporting lines provide a clear and practical takeaway. Overall, the carousel uses a relatable human story to encourage families, young people, and the wider UAE community to pause, reconnect, and find a healthier balance between their digital and real lives.
